‘The Blessing of the Boats.’

Portstewart Community Association Red Sails Festival Committee invites you to join with us at 2pm on Sunday 20th July 2025 at the Bandstand for ‘The Blessing of the Boats.’ This is a time of reflection on the power and beauty of the sea, celebrating our rich maritime heritage in Portstewart; a time of acknowledgment and remembrance of those who have lost their lives at sea, and thanks for those who keep our shores safe. This service will be led by representatives of local churches and will include a ‘Blessing of the Boats’. a centuries-old tradition celebrated in fishing communities across the world, to ensure a safe and bountiful season. This invitation is warmly extended to all those who use, protect and enjoy the sea here in Portstewart.
