DOWN & CONNOR NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART

19th – 27th June, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
It is with great joy as a diocese we celebrate the Novena to The Sacred Heart. This year we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the apparitions of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. The Sacred Heart Novena invites you to nine days of prayer, cumulating in the celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart. These days offer a special opportunity to deepen your relationship with Jesus, to entrust your needs and intentions to His loving heart, a prayerful expression of our hope in this Jubilee Year. The prayers will be available in a booklet you can pick up at Mass; it will also include a piece of scripture and a reflection for each day for those who wish to go a little deeper. The images used in this year’s Novena book are by students from our schools from across the diocese. Bishop Alan’s hope is that this novena will be prayed either individually or together by parishes, groups, schools or families. Even young children can join in with the short prayers!
