PARISH SAFEGUARDING COMMITTEE
Safeguarding within our Church community is about making our Church a safe, welcoming and enriching place for children, young people and adults and those who may be at risk of harm. The Diocesan Safeguarding Office takes a lead role in outlining the key aspects of what needs to be in place to protect children and adults from harm. However, safeguarding is very much a shared community responsibility in which each and every one of us has a part to play, whether that is reporting a concern about a child or adult or by simply volunteering in the parish in any of our safeguarding activities.
In our own Family of Parishes, we have a new Safeguarding Committee, chaired by Karen Kelly, which comprises members of the four parishes. The members are Michele Shaw, Ita Harley, Ruth McGuckian (Portstewart); Caroline McNicholl, Andrew McGreevy (Portrush); Sarah McCaughan, Julie Diamond (Coleraine) and Donna Harrison, Mary B O’Neill (Ballymoney). The committee meets regularly to ensure that best practice is maintained in our parishes.
If you have any questions, please speak to one of our members.
